Burundi national team head coach, Olivier Niyungeko has named his 28 man-squad convened for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt.
The list features Burundi international players such as Saido Berahino and Gael Bigirimana said to be the most targeted at the total Africa Cup of Nations.
Burundi is in Group B with Nigeria, Guinea, and fellow first-timers Madagascar. The Swallows are set to make their debut ahead of the total Africa Cup of Nations in their opening game against Nigeria slate on 22nd June 2019 in Egypt
Olivier Niyungeko assesses Group C as tough but he states to work hard with his squad to do their best.
“It is a very tough group
“We have to work hard to do well in the tournament,” stated Niyungeko.
Sadly, Burundi will be playing without its midfield player Papy Faty who collapsed and died while playing in Eswatini on 25 April 2019.
