Head coach of Asante Kotoko Charles Kwablan Akunnor is pleased with the performance of his Porcupine Warriors in their 3-2 win over Coton Sport Garoua on Sunday, January 13, 2019.

“You made it happen. Yes! you did it and I am very proud of you [referring to his players], the coach said in a post match interview.

The coach also admitted that Coton Sport is a good side:

“I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Coton Sport are a great side, but we had a plan and I am so glad my players carried through the plan perfectly.”

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 8th minute through speedster – Emmanual Gyamfi having been set up by Abdul Fatawu Safiu.

Maxwell Baakoh extended the lead for the Ghanaian champions [Asante Kotoko] in the 30th minute after weaving his way through two defenders, but Dauda Kamilo pulled one goal for Coton Sport before the break.

Back from recess, Fatawu Safiu capitalized on a wicked goalkeeping error to extend the lead for Kotoko in the 50th minute.

Coton Sport piled the pressure on Asante Kotoko and succeeded in the 70th minute as Guema Ariana scored with a brilliant half volley, but the resilient Ghanaian side defended gallantly to ensure victory became theirs.
