Jamaican sprinter – Yohan Blake has expressed his disappointment for fishing fifth in the men’s 100m at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha.

Blake completed the race in a time of 9.97 sec, behind South Africa’s Akani Simbine [4th] who clocked 9.93 seconds. Christian Coleman of the USA clocked a personal best 9.76 seconds to win gold,, followed by Justin Gatlin [9.89], and Canada’s Andre DeGrasse who recorded a personal best 9.90s.

“Wow what can I say? Disappointed yes, but that is a part of life,” the youngest 100m world champion ever [Blake] said.

The Jamaican, however, vowed to fight back strongly despite the setbacks in his career:

“I will fight no matter what to have a better story.

“Failure and hurdles are a part of it.”

Though parting ways, Yohan Blake credits his former coach Glen Mills for helping him regain his confidence, which he admits, had deserted him in recent times as he attempts to recapture the form that made him the second fastest man ever to walk the earth.

Blake finished just outside the medals at the 2017 World Championships in London and the Olympic Games in 2016, a far cry from the man who beat Usain Bolt twice at the National Championships in Kingston in 2012.

Yohan Blake became a world champion in Daegu [2011], coasting a time of 9.92 seconds to beat Walter Dix [USA] and Kim Collins, who at 35 became the oldest man ever then to win a world championship medal in the 100m.

Blake [29] is the second fastest man ever in both 100m and 200m, sharing honors with United States former sprinter Tyson Gay. His personal best is 9.69 seconds.
