Jamaican spinster Yohan Blake coasted 9.93 seconds to win the men’s 100 meter race at the 14th Jamaica International Invitational on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
The St. James native’s time represents his season’s best ahead of America’s Ronnie Baker [9.98] and Mike Rodgers [10.02] who finished second and third respectively.
Blake is the second fastest man ever in the history of the men’s 100 meter race with a personal best of 9.69 seconds recorded at the 2012 IAAF Diamond League in Lausanne.
With series of injuries from 2013, Blake decided to fully come back to the tracks at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil, where he won his second career Olympic gold in the men’s 4x100m relay after a disappointing performance in both 100 and 200m.
