Former Black Stars midfielder and coach of Elmina Sharks has taken a more optimistic view of how the 2017 Ghana Premier League [GPL] will culminate for the debutant.
Speaking on Asempa [94.7] FM’s Ultimate Morning Show on Tuesday, July 25 Yaw Acheampong, an Olympic bronze medal winner at the 1992 Summer Games in Barcelona was very confident that Elmina Sharks will definitely escape the relegation train.
“For now I can say that we are capable of avoiding relegation judging from the points we have accumulated so far.”
Yaw Acheampong who featured in Ghana’s African Cup of Nations [AFCON] team of 1996 [South Africa] and 1998 [Burkina Faso] further reiterated that a team needs to accumulate at least 40 points before it’ll be considered to be safe from the relegation basket.
“A careful look at the league table reveals that unless you have hit the 40 points mark one cannot be too sure so that’s our aim for now.”
Yaw Acheampong also lauded Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom for putting up an ultra modern facility [Nduom Sports Complex] in Elmina, Ghana.
Yaw Acheampong and Felix Aboagye have guarded Elmina Sharks to four consecutive wins over Bolga All Stars, Liberty Professionals, AshantiGold SC, and Bechem United.
