Nigeria quartet of Johnson Nnamani, Imaobong Nse Uko, Opeyemi Oke and Bamidele Ajayi grabbed gold in the inaugural 4x400m relay at the World Athletics U-20 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday.

The Nigerians finished crossed the finished line in 3:19.70, ahead of Poland [3:19.80] and India [3:20.60].

In the women’s 100m semifinal 1 witnessed Tina Clayton put on a dominant display of sprinting to easily clear the rest of the field before stopping the clock at 11.34. Serbia’s Ivana Ilic was second in 11.50 and secured the other qualifying spot. Romania’s Maria Mihalache was third in 11.64 but did not advance.

Namibia’s Beatrice Masilingi claimed the top spot in the semifinal [heat 2] in 11.35 seconds while Switzerland’s Melissa Gutschmidt was second in 11.50 and Viktória Forster third in 11.54 seconds.
