Ghana’s women’s 4x100m relay team have been handed a tough group at the 2021 World Athletics Relays.

Team Ghana will face competition [heat 1] from the likes of Brazil, Italy, Czech Republic, and Japan.

Gemma Acheampong will run the first leg, Latipa Ali [back straight], Janet Amponsah [curve] while 2018 Commonwealth Games anchor, Hor Halutie finishes in the home straight for Ghana.

Team Brazil holds the best time [42.29 seconds], followed by Ghana [42.67 seconds], and Italy [42.90 seconds].

In the men’s division, Ghana will battle it out with Turkey, Netherlands, Spain, Ukraine and Czech Republic.

Running in lane 7, Sean Safo-Antwi will run the first leg for Ghana, Benjamin Azamati-Kwaku [back straight], Joseph Manu [third leg], and Joseph Paul Amoah finishes in the home straight.

The Netherlands 4x100m men’s team boast of the best time [37.91 seconds], followed by Turkey [37.98 seconds], whiles Ghana come third [38.12 seconds].

The first two to finish the heat automatically qualify for the finals while the fastest two qualifiers from the heats advance to the final.

The 2021 World Athletics Relays will start this evening at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów, Poland.
