A cult figure in the Black Stars B team, Winful Cobbinah has said that Ghana is battled ready to have a go at the Super Eagles as the two sides lock horns today at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in their last Group A match of the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles would have to beat Ghana in other to progress to the next stage of the competition, having played two drawn games on the bounce.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars B maintained their winning streak on Saturday having dispatched Mali 1-0 but Winful Cobbinah claims they are going to put everything behind and fight for victory today at the expense of the Super Eagles.
“Yes, we know we have qualified but we are still determined to beat Nigeria,” Cobbinah said on Happy [98.9] FM on Sunday, September 17.
The Hearts of Oak midfielder reckons that the 2017 WAFU Cup has not been an easy tournament:
“It has not been an easy tournament because there are no minnows in the game any longer and any team you meet along the way are motivationally charged to pick the points at stake.”
Winful Cobbinah also credited Amos Frimpong for playing an instrumental role in the goal he scored against Mali on Saturday.
“Amos played a key role on the road to scoring my goal. In fact, it was his run down the lane that opened the gap for me to enter because the Malian left back followed Amos Frimpong instead of closing me up, thereby creating the space for me to shoot towards the target,” Winful Cobbinah noted.
