The best super middleweight champion in the world – Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez will be seeking to defend his WBO crown tonight as he goes toe-to-toe with Jesse Hart at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Ramirez [38-0, 25 KO], a great architect in the ring began the year in a great fashion, scoring a remarkable sixth-round knockout over hard hitting Ghanaian Habib Ahmed.
The 27yr old Mexican went on to beat Roamer Alexis Angulo over the full 12-round distance in July and looking for a unification fight in 2019 but would have to first climb Hart’s hurdle.
Hart, 29, is no stranger to Gilberto Ramirez, having met him in 2017.
The fight between the two could best be described as a night of equal halves with Ramirez dominating the first six round whereas the Philadelphian [Jesse Hart] came back strongly from the seventh round till the sound of the last bell but in the end the score cards read; 114-113 and 115-112 [twice] in favour of Gilberto Ramirez.
