Head coach of Hasaacas Ladies FC – Yussif Basigi has expressed his disappointment after losing the opportunity to lift the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Ghanaian side who dazzled on the road to the final were beaten 2-0 by eventual winners – Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC.
Speaking in a post match interview, the Ghanaian coach explained that they came into the game with a winning mindset but it became impossible for them in the course of the game judging from the balance of play:
“It’s unfortunate that we did not win. We came in with the intention of wining, but it was almost impossible. We will be ready to win the next edition of Women’s Champions League”.
The coach was, however, surprise at how his defenders chose to set offside traps because he never rehearsed such an approach with the team going into the final:
“My centre backs had to cover more for the half backs. I never taught my players to set offside traps, so the second goal did not happen because of that”.
“The next edition will surely be tougher, we came here and saw it all. Everyone will go back and get stronger for the next time”.
“It’s historic for us to be in the final, because others came and go, but we stayed”.
