Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah has made a passionate appeal to the senior national women’s football team [Black Queens] to win the upcoming Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana 2018.

“It is important to note that we have said that we are hosting, but let me tell you we are hosting and winning,” the minister said at the unveiling ceremony of the official mascot [Agrohemaa] of the tournament on Friday, September 28.

Honorable Asiamah also used the occasion to encourage the Black Queens to demonstrate patriotism and a sense of nationalism on the field.

“Let me be honest with you, this tournament is about you, demonstrate your hard sense of patriotism and nationalism. Ghana is waiting for you, get us the gold nothing but the gold.”

Ghana will be seeking to winning its first gold medal in the history of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as the west African country host the rest of Africa from November 17 to December 1st, 2018.

The Black Queens have been runners up on three different occasions – 1998, 2002, and 2006.

The eight qualified teams are; Ghana [host], Algeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, Mali, Zambia, and Nigeria.

The top three teams of the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana 2018 will represent Africa at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
