Head coach of the Black Stars B team [Maxwell Konadu] has said that he’s extremely pleased winning the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations tournament.
The Black Stars B mesmerized and completely washed off the Super Eagles [Nigeria] by 4-1 in the finals of the WAFU Cup of Nations at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 24, 2017.
“We are delighted to lift the title,” Maxwell Konadu summarized his general feeling of the night in a post match interview.
The former striker [Maxwell Konadu] who began his professional football career at Kumasi Asante Kotoko where he was popularly known as the ‘Magic Header’ due to his superior aerial ability in the box also noted how his team progressively warmed themselves into the competition after a seemingly disappointing start.
Maxwell Konadu, an Olympic Silver Medalist having been part of the Ghana Olympic football team that came second in the men’s U-23 tournament in Barcelona [1992], Spain believes that winning the WAFU Cup of Nations trophy is enough to write off the mistakes of not qualifying for next year’s CHAN tournament.
The Black Stars B were eliminated in the CHAN qualifiers by Burkina Faso after losing 3-4 over two legs.
