Wasiru Mohammed aka “Gyata Bi” was very smart and crafty for former national and West African champion, Raymond Commey in their super bantamweight title bout on Saturday night at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

Mohammed who suffered a cut in his face in the first round successfully defended his national crown after stopping the experienced Commey in round two with a number of accurate punches.

Before the fight, many experts predicted that the fight will travel the full 12 rounds but Mohammed had a plan and a mission.

Gyata Bi, who was making his first defense of his title belt in the first round was the better boxer landing some combinations, forcing Commey to move back.

In the second round, Mohammed came all out to put down Commey to get the winner.

“Raymond Commey is a good and experienced boxer,”Mohammed said after the fight. “I came into the ring to defend my belt and that was my target.”

“I knew Commey will not continue, if he feels my power and that was what happnened in round two.”

He continued, “I’m now ready to take on any boxer in my division, my aim is to be a world champion and we are working towards it.”

Mohammed becomes the second boxer to stop Commey after Samuel Otu.

Mohammed has improved to 8-0, (8 KOs), while Commey’s current record stands at 18-7, (10 KOs). The bill was put together by E&J Promotions.

In the under cards, rising star Prince Okoe Nartey won in R4 to improve his record to five wins without defeat over his opponent, Richard Ashong, who got his 13 defeat without a win.
