Deportivo Alaves have completed the signing of Mubarak Wakaso from Superleague Greece club, Panathinaikos FC.

The 26-year-old defensive midfield rock [Wakaso] terminated his contract with Panathinaikos on July 16, 2017 only to seal a deal a day after with another Spanish top flight side, Alaves having played for Granada CF on loan last season.

Born on July 25, 1990, Mubarak Wakaso has proven to be a midfield workaholic machine and has featured in the Black Stars last three African Cup of Nations [AFCON] campaigns – South Africa 2013, Equatorial Guinea 2015, and Gabon 2017.

Wakaso was also part of coach James Kwesi Appiah’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and made his tournament debut as a second half substitute in Ghana’s thrilling 2-2 drawn game with eventual winners – Germany on June 21, 2014.

However, persistent injuries, disciplinary and contractual issues have held back the progress of the former AshantiGold SC midfielder’s progress at club level.

Mubarak Wakaso has played for nine [9] different clubs in the last nine years of his senior career.
