The Black Stars B dispatched off stubborn Niger on Thursday evening to set a titanic grand finale clash of the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday, September 24 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Two goals in each half from Kwame Kizito and Stephen Sarfo secured Ghana 2-0 win over the Menas of Niger in the second semifinal match of yesterday.

The Menas [Nigerien] was the first to threaten as Victorien Adebayor who forced Ghana’s left back [Thomas Abbey] to retreat came close twice under ten minutes to test goalkeeper Joseph Addo.

The first quarter of the game belonged to Niger except that Victorien Adebayor, Boubacar, Hainikoye, and Hinsa could not connect the chances that came their way.

Kofi Dankwae could not continue the game after kicking the ball to touch in the 31st minute. Dankwae’s absence at the back opened the floodgate for Kwame Kizito to head the Black Stars into the lead from a corner kick.

The Hearts of Oak striker [Kwame Kizito] should have extended the lead for Ghana in the 47th minute but goalkeeper Losseini came off his line quickly to save the situation.

The Nigeriens were on the driving seat in the second half until the 75th minute when another calamity slapped them in the face as another central defender Adamou left the field in anguish, giving room for Stephen Sarfo to hit the back of the net in the 79th minute from a close range to cusp a brilliant night for the Berekum Chelsea striker.

Niger tried to push more forward in an attempt to redeem their image, but time was not their best friend on the night as the game ended 2-0 in favour of the host – Ghana who will now face Nigeria in the finals on Sunday.
