Asante’s magic came to light once more at Wild Horse Pass on Saturday night as the Ghanaian attacking midfielder [Solomon Asante] led the way for Phoenix Rising Football Club [PRFC] with a goal and three assists in their 5-0 mauling of LA GALAXY II in the USL Championship.
The Ghanaian forward came close close to breaking the deadlock in the 18th minute, but his well taken free kick from outside the penalty area went as close as hitting the bar.
James Musa gave Phoenix Rising the lead in the 33rd minute as redirected Kevon Lambert’s header beyond the reach of LA Galaxy II goalkeeper – Eric Lopez.
Solomon Asante extended the lead for Phoenix Rising in the 40th minute with a simple tap-in goal having been put through by Rufat Dadashov’s low cross into the box.
Asante returned the favour in the 45th minute as the Ghanaian forward took advantage of a botched clearance attempt by a by a Galaxy II defender to set up Rufat Dadashov who was lurking in the area for a first-time finish.
The Black Stars midfielder picked up his second assist of the night in the 78th minute as he found his way through the right channel to deliver a 35-yard cross into the box for David Egbo to head in the fourth goal.
As if that was not enough, the two combined again in the 90th minute to sign the game off with a brilliant move. Asante flicked the ball near the halfway line to the path of Egbo who patiently rounded goalkeeper Eric Lopez before slotting the ball into the empty net.
Asante has become the third player this season to record at least one goal and three assists in a single game in the Championship as Phoenix Rising FC extends their lead on the USL Championship [Western Conference Pacific] table to 26 points, followed by Orange County FC on 21 points.
