Nigeria have been struck with a severe blow at the ongoing 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan as ten [10] athletes from the West African nation are ineligible to compete having failed anti-doping guidelines according to the Athletics Integrity Unit [AIU].

The Athletics Integrity Unit requires athletes from categorized as ‘high doping risk’ because of deficiencies in their testing program to undergo at least three no-notice out-of-competition tests conducted no less than 3 weeks apart in the 10 months leading up to a major event.

According to the Athletics Integrity Unit, out of the twenty entries of the Olympic failed minimum requirements that were submitted, it was established that 10 Nigerian athletes [names withheld] could not meet the standard.

Nigeria entered a total of 23 athletes so it means only 13 are eligible to compete.
