Former President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, Mr. Joe Aggrey has described the annual SWAG awards as the biggest award platform in Ghana.

“There is no award in Ghana that can beat us,” Mr. Joe Aggrey waxed poetically in his welcoming address at the launch of the 43rd MTN-SWAG Awards held at the MTN House on Thursday, January 25, 2018.

Mr. Kwabena Yeboah [President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana] recounted the history behind the SWAG awards:

“Fourty two years ago, when our progenitors organized the first ever SWAG Awards Night, little did we know that, they were initiating a movement that would not only become the most transcendent and distinguished of all Awards ceremonies, in Ghana but the most exciting.”

“Fourty three years on, it is enormously inspiring and edifying that we blaze that trail as we set off to honour our deserving sportsmen and women for the 2017 calendar year.”

The SWAG Awards is a yearly activation where deserving sportsmen and women who have distinguished themselves excellently in their area of specialty [discipline] are recognized.

The 43rd MTN-SWAG Awards Night will come off on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra, Ghana.

The SWAG Awards is proudly sponsored by MTN Ghana with support from Activa International Insurance, GOIL, uniBank, CDH Holdings, Stanbic Bank, Santa Baron, and Star Times.
