Actress Kate del Castillo has revealed she had a romance with boxer Saul “Canelo” Alvarez which involved “hard rounds” and some “knockouts”.

Del Castillo, best known for her role in the Netflix produced La Reina del Sur (The Queen of the South) series, revealed her romance in an interview on the TV channel “Un Nuevo Dia” broadcast by American Spanish language station Telemundo, The Sun reports.

When asked by host Marco Antonio Regil if she had been involved with Alvarez romantically, the stunning actress replied: “Well yes, maybe they caught me with Canelo.

“There were some strong rounds and yes, there were sometimes knockouts.”

Continuing her boxing metaphors, the 46-year-old actress — who is 18 years the boxer’s senior — added: “He was the first to hit the canvas and ask for his corner to throw in the towel.”

Castillo made international headlines when she reportedly arranged a meeting between Hollywood icon Sean Penn and alleged drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman after the latter escaped from a maximum-security prison in Mexico.

The actress revealed she is now in bankruptcy after the Mexican government launched an investigation into her as they claimed she had links with Guzman’s criminal gang.

She said she is now suing the state for $85 million as she went into bankruptcy fighting, and winning, the case against her.

Alvarez, 28, is currently training to take on American fighter Daniel Jacobs in Las Vegas on May 4. He uploaded videos to his social media channels showing off his devastating power ahead of next month’s showdown.

Canelo will put his WBC and WBA belts on the line against the 32-year-old American, who became the IBF champion in October.

Alvarez became boxing’s richest fighter last year after he signed a deal with sports streaming service DAZN. He penned a $500 million, 11-fight deal with the company — which was the biggest contract in sporting history before American baseball star Mike Trout claimed the record when he inked a $600 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels in March.

Alvarez and fellow boxing superstar Gennady Golovkin faced off in a superfight in 2017 that ended in a split decision draw before the Mexican won a rematch last year.
