Division One League club, Tema Youth is all, but ready to engage the Ghana Football Association in another legal marathon should the football governing body fail to address its petition in the coming days.

Tema Youth has petitioned the GFA to as a matter of urgency to annul the declaration of Accra Lions FC as the winner of Zone 3 in the just ended Division One League competition.

Accra Lions and Tema Youth finished the season with 65 points, but Accra Lions were crowned champions due to their superior goals and head-to-head advantage.

But according to Tema Youth, the GFA Appeals Committee misapplied Article 13 of the Division One League Regulations which governs the withdrawal of clubs from competitions/matches.

Tema Youth argues that variations in award decisions delivered by the Appeals Committee regarding Amidaus Professionals FC on May 7, 2021, and Phar Rangers FC on July 21, 2021 cost it two points.

In a letter signed by the Executive Board Chairman [Wilfred Kwaku Osei] and addressed to the GFA on August 06, 2021, Tema Youth cautioned the football governing body to refer the document to the appropriate Judicial body within the GFA for them to deliberate on the issues they’ve raised and give them a feedback, else they will consider another line of action.

“Take this as a formal petition on the erroneous declaration of Accra Lions FC as the winners of the just ended division one league in zone 3 and our grievances thereof. We have attached the petition to this covering letter for your due consideration on onward prompt action.

“Kindly refer the document to the appropriate Judicial body within the GFA for them to deliberate on the issues raised and feedback within reasonable time for us to consider our next line of action.”

Tema Youth are ready to adjudicate the case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport [CAS] should the Ghana Football Association fail to give them fair judgement.
