IAAF [International Association of Athletic Federation] World Champion – Steven Gardiner set a new Bahamian national record of 31.83 seconds in the men’s 300 meters in a first place finish at the Showdown Otown meet in Claremont, Florida on Saturday.

Though competing for the first time in the United State of America in 2020, the Murphy Town born Gardiner proved once again why he’s the best in the men’s 300m race.

Steven Gardiner [24] became the world champion at the 2019 World Championships in the 400 m.

He has personal bests of 43.48 s in the 400 m and 19.75 s in the 200 m, both national records.

He is the only Bahamian, and the first Caribbean athlete, to run both sub-44 s in the 40 metres and sub-20’s in the 200 metres.
