Thembi Kgatlana, undoubtedly the wind behind the Banyana Banyana’s success at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is leading the goal queen race with four goals.

The Houston Dash forward stole the headlines when her solitary goal fetched South Africa their sweet 1-0 victory against the Super Falcons of Nigeria [10-time African champions] at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in their first match of the competition.

Kgatlana hit brace and assisted in South Africa’s 7-1 demolition of late addition – Equatorial Guinea.

Thembi Kgatlana continued her goal scoring form on Saturday as she grabbed her fourth of the tournament on Saturday having broken the deadlock in their final Group match against the Shepolopolo of Zambia at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Apart from being a very good goal scorer, Thembi Kgatlana has also won Player of the Match Award three times and is a sure candidate for the player of the tournament should South Africa progress to the finals.

South Africa also has six goal-scorers from the nine goals they have accrued – Kgatlana [4], Nompumelelo Nyandeni, Linda Motlhalo, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Amanda Mthandi, and vice captain Refiloe Jane.
