Despite running her season best on Sunday, Gonezie Marie Josée Dominique Ta Lou could not clinch the ultimate at the Stockholm Diamond League meet as Shericka Jackson pipped the Ivorian sprint Queen to win the women’s 200m.
The 2019 World Championships 400m bronze and 4×100 metres relay gold medallist [Shericka] raced to victory in 22.10 seconds ahead of Marie Josee Ta Lou who finished in 22.36 seconds.
Namibia’s Beatrice Masilingi also ran a season-best time and a national record of 22.65 seconds to finished third.
Jackson, a known 400m specialist switched to the 100 and 200 metres this very year was in an awesome form at the 2021 Jamaica Olympic Trials where she finished of 10.77 seconds [100m] and 21.82 seconds [200m] respectively.
She will represent Jamaica at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in these events. She’s one of few women to run sub-50 s in the 400 m, sub-22 s in the 200m, and sub-10.8 seconds in the 100m.
