Shepherd Stars FC washed aside Metro Stars 3-1 at the Unistar Academy Park, Odupong Ofaakor in a special friendly game on Wednesday ahead of the central region division II, zone 11 league.

The first fifteen minutes of the game saw Shepherd Stars take control of possession, but could not create any decent goal scoring opportunity to bring them off the mark.

Meanwhile, Metro Stars who were defending in their numbers rather made use of Shepherd Stars’ defensive gap in the 5th minute with one swift counterattack that nearly resulted in a goal.

Bernard Kankam gave the host [Shepherd Stars] the lead in the 36th minute through a well taken penalty kick, but Hudu Jerlaldeen restored parity for Metro Stars just before the break from fast attacking situation.

Shepherd Stars returned from the break to play more confidently and maintained pressure throughout the entire second stanza.

Their prevalence paid off in the 60th minute when Romeo Alhassani capitalized on a rebound to put them ahead for the second time in the game.

Joseph Tetteh, however, crowned the day for Shepherd Stars midway through the second half with a brilliant curler from outside the eighteen yard box straight into the roof of the net.

Speaking to after the game, coach Eric Agyapong [Shepherd Stars] said their target is to finish either first or second in the upcoming league while adding that such friendly games is very key because it gives him the platform to assess his team.
