American track and field sprinter, Sha’Carri Richardson has sent a congratulatory message to Jamaican trio – Shericka Jackson, Elaine Thompson-Herah, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for their dominant display in the women’s 100m final at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Saturday.
The three Jamaican swept all three medals at stake, finishing 1,2,3 as Thompson-Herah broke the Olympic record having finish in 10.61 seconds, followed by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce [10.74], and Shericka Jackson [10.76].
The American would have been in the equation but for her ban. Richardson who won the 2021 American Trials with a wind-aided 10.64 seconds was slapped with a ban after testing positive for marijuana, a situation which prevented her from making the US Olympic team for the Tokyo Olympics.
But haven’t watched the Jamaicans display, the American track star [Richardson] took to her social media page to part their back for work well executed:
“Congratulations to the ladies of Jamaica for the clean sweep,” Richardson wrote via her Twitter handle.
“Powerful, strong black women dominating the sport,” she added.
