2016 Summer Olympics women’s 100m gold medallist, Elaine Thompson-Herah has backed out of today’s Doha Diamond League meet.

Thompson-Herah, the second-fastest woman in the world this year [10.78 seconds] withdrew herself from the Gateshead Diamond League last Sunday, but was expected to meet the likes of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Marie-Josee Ta-Lou in Doha.

Meanwhile, news of the Banana Ground native broke out earlier this week when the start list was announced without her name.

Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith won the Gateshead Diamond League event having finished 11.35 seconds, ahead of the fastest woman in the world this year – Sha’Carri Richardson and Marie-Josee Ta-Lou.

Thompson-Herah, who has a personal best of 10.70 seconds, the same as Fraser-Pryce and Richardson [10.72 sec] are three of the fast women in history over the distance having clocked the joint-fourth and sixth fastest times over the distance.

Only Florence Griffith-Joyner [10.49 sec], Carmelita Jeter [10.64 sec], and Marion Jones [10.65 sec] have better times than Fraser-Pryce and Thompson-Herah.
