Mr. Sammy Anim Addo, Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of the Baby Jet Promotions, has disclosed that Ghana’s lone world champion – Emmanuel “Game Boy” Tagoe is ready to defend his IBO title.
Emmanuel Tagoe, 31, will come face-to-face with Argentine opponent Fernando David Saucedo on Saturday, January 27 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, Ghana.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, January 16 at the head office of Multi Choice in Accra Mr. Anim Addo revealed that Emmanuel Tagoe is fit, well-conditioned and ready to rumble.
“We are confident he will defend the title. Saucedo is a tough boxer, but Game Boy is training very hard and he is poised to make a defense of the belt.
“We are also looking at making a mandatory defense of the title this year, but our main agenda is to unify the division.”
The IBO world champion [Emmanuel Tagoe] has been out of action for a year due to injury and late withdrawals of opponents, leading to his none rating in other boxing bodies despite being a champion.
But, according to Mr. Anim Addo Game Boy whose record stands at [27-1-13, KO’s] has recovered from his injury and is in a secret camp training intensely to defend his title against Saucedo [61-6, 10 KO’s].
Mr. Anim Addo added that their main target for 2018 is for Emmanuel Tagoe to unify his title.
The bout believed to cost $200,000 is being put together by the Baby Jet Promotions in collaboration with Box Office Sports Promotions with support from Multichoice Ghana, Joy Industries, Run Energy Drink and Paradise Water.
There will be live musical performances from popular Ghanaian artists like; MzVee, Kwame Eugene, Luther, Tinny, Jupiter and Kidi.
