Last season losing finalists RS Berkane of Morocco managed an emphatic comeback to overturn their first leg 2-0 defeat to Madagascar’s Fosa Juniors last weekends.

The Oranges scored five unanswered goals against their Malagasy visitors to reach the group stage with a 5-2 aggregate win.

A shocking away defeat saw Fosa Juniors scoring deep into injury time to take a convincing 2-0 lead, but Berkane who suffered a heartbreak in last season’s final that they lost on penalties to eventual winners Zamalek of Egypt didn’t look in the mood to throw the towel early.

It took RS Berkane just seven minutes to take the lead via Burkinabe Alain Traore to half the aggregate deficit. Traore completed his personal brace after 26 minutes to level the matters with too much time to be played.

And it was almost settled before halftime as Mohamed Aziz added a brace himself in the span of nine minutes. Berkane skipper scored after 36 minutes, then added his side’s fourth of the night a minute before the break.

The second half witnessed one more for Berkane through Hamdi Laachir who scored his side’s fifth of the night after 69 minutes, to send the 2019 runner ups to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage in grand style.
