Ghanaian defender Roy Boateng has been promoted to the U-23 side of Portland Timbers the club has announced.
Boateng, formerly with Santa Rosa where he won the Cal-Cup title and State Cup in 2013 was promoted alongside five others – Walker Andriot, Willie Spurr, Michael Andrew Konstantino, Alex Segovia, and Benji Michel due to their excellent performance in the just ended season.
“We are excited to add such a quality group to an already experienced core,” Timbers U-23 head coach Aaron Lewis said of the promoted players.
“Each one of these players have come in highly recommended and we look forward to working with them to compete at a very high level this summer,” Aaron Lewis added.
Boateng, a pivot at the back of the Aggies featured in all twenty [20] games for the Timbers junior side in the 2016 league season. The Accra born [Roy Boateng] played more minutes than any other player in the team.
The Rohnert Park based Boateng came to the Timbers U23s after receiving Honorable-Mention All-Conference honors in each of the last two years at UC Davis.
