Mike Tyson will face Roy Jones Jr. in his much-awaited return to boxing.

The bout will be an eight-round exhibition. It will take place on September 12. The event will be called Frontline Battle. It will be available on Pay-per-view and the social media platform, Triller. TMZ was the first one to report the news of the booking.

As per TMZ, the fight will take place in California. Therefore, the California State Athletic Commission will sanction the return of ‘Iron Mike’.

Mike Tyson had his last professional fight in 2005 against Kevin McBride. While he was away from the sport, he had to battle substance abuse and weight issues. However, earlier this year, the 54-year old pugilist took the boxing world by storm when he announced his return.

Tyson has also been dropping training videos on a fairly regular basis. Despite his age, the former champ looks sharp as he rocked the punching bag with his thunderous power. After the news of his return, Tyson has received multiple offers. He had reportedly turned down $20 million to compete in a Bare Knuckle Boxing match.

There were speculations that Tyson was eyeing a trilogy against Evander Holyfield. The fight against Holyfield is still expected to take place down the line. However, first up it is Roy Jones Jr.

Mike Tyson’s return will be more than just a fight. Millions from around the world will tune-in to watch one of the most recognized fighters of all time in his element. The organizers are thus putting in efforts to make the whole event a spectacle.

According to TMZ, the event will also have an undercard along with musical performances. Multiple big names of the music industry such as Snoop Dogg, Pitbull, and Lil Wayne can be expected to perform at the event. A documentary is also expected to be released capturing Tyson’s preparation for the fight.

Tyson’s opponent, Roy Jones Jr., stepped away from boxing after his last fight in February 2018. He has formerly held titles in four weight classes namely middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight.

The 51-year-old currently runs a combat school in Moscow.
