Youngest 100m world champion ever [at 2011 World Championships] and triple medalist at the London 2012 Summer Games – Yohan Blake has been named as the captain of the Jamaica men’s track and field team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Jamaica Athletics Administration Association [JAAA] revealed the appointments on social media yesterday.

Leading the women’s team is a six-time Olympic medalist, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

Blake [31yrs] is the second fastest man ever in both 100m [9.69 seconds] and 200m [19.26 seconds] while the ten-time gold medalist in the history of the World Athletics Championships, Fraser-Pryce is the fastest woman alive having coasted 10.63 seconds at the JAAA Olympic Destiny Series on June 5, 2021.

The track and field will get underway on Thursday, July 29.
