It isn’t official yet, but Kevin Durant isn’t going to leave Golden State this summer.
Durant will decline his 2017-18 player option, become a free agent (briefly) on July 1, and then re-sign with the Warriors, according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes.
A couple of weeks ago, ESPN reported that Durant is willing to take less than a max deal in order to help Golden State retain some free agents.
One key free agent — Andre Iguodala.
And on Monday morning, The Vertical’s Shams Charania reported that Iguodala will seriously consider other teams in free agency.
For many months, Durant has let it be known that he plans on staying with the Warriors long-term.
Last summer, he considered the Celtics, Clippers, Heat, Spurs and Thunder before eventually picking the Warriors.
