The sudden exhilaration of AshantiGold SC will be subjected to scrutiny today at the Accra Sports Stadium as the soccer miners come face-to-face with Hearts of Oak in the top liner of matchday 20 of the 2017 Ghana Premier League.

Apart from been bolstered by the arrival of former Hearts of Oak coach [C.K Akunnor] to change the technical direction of the club, the soccer miners [AshantiGold SC] have also found a game changer in Daniel Gozah.

It was obvious in the first round that the soccer miners did not have someone who could come off the bench to provide solutions in times of need, but the presence of the former Dreams FC midfielder [Daniel Gozah] seem to be the missing link that AshantiGold lacked in the first round.

Emmanuel Osei Baffour has proven to be the livewire for AshantiGold. In fact, he together with Amos Addai and Theophilus Nyame are responsible for creating the arsenals for their leading marksman – Hans Kwofie to firing at goal.

It is an undeniable fact that AshantiGold SC is the team to beat in the second round. The soccer miners have won three [3] out of their last four matches and drew [1-1] in the other against Wa All Stars. They have scored a total of eight goals and have conceded just once in the process.

On the other side of the equation, coach Frank Nuttal [Hearts of Oak] is likely to repeat the same starting line-up that played against Elmina Sharks on Sunday as well as the same 3-5-2 tactical layout.

Despite not being favoured by statistical masturbation going into this particular match, Hearts of Oak can still bet on their home superiority. The Phobians have not lost a match at the Accra Sports Stadium this season and that alone should be a motivating factor for their vociferous fans to troop to the stadium in confidence.

Again, after being annihilated by WAFA on matchday 17 at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope Hearts of Oak returned to the Accra Sports Stadium, where the Phobians ripped off relegation threatened Bolga All Stars by 4-0 to serve as a caution to teams travelling to Accra on any day.

Thomas Abbey [Hearts of Oak]
Thomas Abbey [Hearts of Oak]
Thomas Abbey is the man to stop if AshantiGold really mean business today. Apart from showing leadership on the field of play, Thomas Abbey has also found his scoring boots and is a serious threat to any defence anytime he ghost into the eighteen yard box.

The former Windy Professionals midfielder [Thomas Abbey] is second on the top scorers chart with eight [8] goals, only two goals shy off Ebusua Dwarfs’ Nicholas Gyan who leads the chart with ten [10] goals.

Hearts of Oak won the first league match [1-0] played at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium and would like to make it double today, but the soccer miners obviously have different ideas going into this particular game.

Below are the predicted starting line-ups of both clubs:

Hearts of Oak: Benjamin Mensah, Fatau Mohammed, Kassenu Ghandy, Vincent Atinga, Richard Akrofi, Reuben Gnagne, Leonard Tawiah, Malik Akowuah, Kwame Kizito, Patrick Razak, Thomas Abbey.

AshantiGold SC: George Owu, Tijani Joshua, Roland Amouzou, Richard Ocran, Abeiku Ainooson, Joseph Gordon, Amos Addai, Theophilus Nyame, Mumuni Shafiu, Hans Kwofie, Osei Baffour Emmanuel.
