Former Black Stars goalkeeper Abubakari Damba has labeled Razak Briamah is the most fortunate Ghanaian goalie in recent times.

Speaking on the ‘Football 360 Show’ on Kwese Free Sports on Monday, July 31 the former Real Tamale United [RTU] No. 1 acknowledged that Razak Briamah was not given competition for the number position in the Black Stars.

“Honestly, I think Razak Briamah has been the luckiest. He came in and was not given enough competition,” Damba said.

Abubakari Damba picked the legendary Robert Mensah as his all-time best goalkeeper but was quick to add that it’ll not be fair to compare the former African great [Robert Mensah] to the current crop of goalkeepers in Ghana because he came in a different era.

Meanwhile, Abubakari Damba who was the assistant goalkeeper for Ghana at the 1992 African Cup of Nations [AFCON] argued that looking at the current goalkeepers in the country, he’ll pick former West Africa Football Academy [WAFA] goalkeeper, Razak Abalora ahead of the others.

According to the former Hearts of Oak’s goalkeeping coach [Abubakari Damba], the agile Razak Abalora exudes all the qualities that a good goalkeeper needs to have.

Razak Briamah earned his first cap for Ghana on August 14, 2013 and went on to become the first choice goalkeeper for the Black Stars. He is yet to return to the team since he took to Facebook to hurl insults at his critics after Ghana’s 2-1 win over DR Congo in the quarterfinals of the 2017 AFCON.
