Marcus Rashford made a positive cameo scoring his first Manchester United hat-trick to inspire the Red Devils to wash aside last year’s Champions League semi-finalists [RB Leipzig], beating the Bundesliga leaders by 5-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Rashford who was the hero in Paris last week against PSG proved himself again yesterday, netting a treble off the bench as Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood to keep Manchester United’s 100 per cent start to Group H alive.
United took a first half lead through Greenwood’s low strike. RB Leipzig became charged and pinned Manchester United backward in the second stanza which prompted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to turn to his bench for assistance from Rashford.
Below is how Marcus Rashford’s presence changed the game for United:
🔄 63′ – Comes on as sub
⚽️ 76′ – Scores
⚽️ 78′ – Scores a second
🥅 86′ – Man United get a penalty
🤝 86′ – Gives it to Anthony Martial to score his first of the season
Having come on in the 63rd minute, the young English striker extended the lead for United in the 76th minute as fellow substitute – Bruno Fernandes set him up. The star man scored his second on the night just within two minutes and won a penalty for Martial to add his name on the score sheet.
Marcus Rashford, however, signed off the night with a bang as he hit the back of the net for the third time in time added on.
