Portuguese Primeira Liga side CS Maritimo are keen on signing Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga.

The 23-year-old Zambian striker has attracted interest from a number of clubs this season.

Tanzanian side Simba SC recently distanced themselves from reports they were chasing the former Nkwazi FC frontman.

The talented attacker has been advised to move on to secure more game-time, and now the Portuguese side have provided him an option.

Shonga’s agent Karabo Mathang-Tshabuse confirmed the news to KickOff.

She said: “Yeah, I can confirm that there is interest from Maritimo but at the moment it’s a situation that is between the teams to decide.

“So, I can categorically confirm that there is interest but it’s for the teams to reach some kind of agreement. It is now before the two teams.”

Mathang-Tshabuse added that Shonga isn’t actively looking to leave Bucs.

“In terms of the player he’s under contract at Pirates and he will serve them dutifully. And so, it is only once the two teams have had a meeting that it would be for the player to consider the options.

“So, in terms of Justin, he will serve out dutifully his contract with Orlando Pirates.

“He’s happy at the club you know, and he will honour his contract to the fullest.”
