Deputy Minister of Youth & Sports Pius Enam Hadzide has fired back at Edward Osei Kweku Palmer and the Black Stars management committee asking the reason why Asamoah Gyan must be allowed to board a chartered flight for the team.

Management committee member of the team, Edward Osei Kweku Palmer confirmed on Asempa [94.7] FM that it is true that Asamoah Gyan came to the aid of his colleagues to charter a flight to lift the team after their emphatic 5-1 over Congo on Tuesday but Pius Hadzide believes such act could have a rippling effect going forward.

“I think we have to interrogate the motive behind this gesture [by Asamoah Gyan],” Enam Hadzide said.

“We need to ask questions because the team is a national property and we have to be careful in the way we do our things,” the Deputy minister added.

According to Pius Hadzide the Black Stars management committee members must know that financial resource at the sports ministry is limited as compared to the various needs within the sports sector.

This is the second time Asamoah Gyan is paying for the cost of flying players in less than two months.
