Coach of Mamelodi Sundowns – Pitso Mosimane has called on the Premier Soccer League [PSL] to be lots more transparent regarding COVID-19 testing having disclosed that some of his players have tested positive for coronavirus.
“We’ve had to adjust because we’ve had some injuries, some players have tested positive and we need to be honest and accept this and quarantine players,” the experience gaffer said in pre-match interview.
“Because it’s not only for the safety of our players, it’s also for the safety of our opponents and I can only hope that everyone respects the principle.
“Look we all want to win but sometimes it is also good to observe the protocols. Imagine I know that I am carrying the virus and I’m playing against you, I’m holding you, breathing on you.
“These are the kinds of things I hope we don’t have [in resuming the league].”
The Brazilians manage to beat Bidvest Wits 3-2 yesterday at the Orlando Stadium and will now face off with Bloemfontein Celtic in the finals of the 2020 Nedbank Cup on September 8.
Since implementing the wholesale testing of PSL teams, only a few clubs have come out publicly announcing positive results.
Knowing the status of players of opposing teams is very critical looking at the nature and the behavior of the virus.
