Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana [Selorm Adadevoh] has explained the reason behind the mobile telecommunications company’s decision to become the headline sponsor of the Black Stars.

“Our sponsorship of the Black Stars is a reinforcement of the faith we have in this nation and in everything that is important to us including our national football assets,” Mr. Adadevoh said during the signing of the sponsorship agreement.

“Today, Qatar 2022 is before us. We believe that our Black Stars deserve all the support they need to excel as they take on the rest of the world. As a network of choice and based on our track record with football sponsorships, we deem it a great responsibility to contribute our quota towards building and investing in a formidable team who will go all out to excel and bring back the joy, excitement, and unity that football brings to our society,” he added.

Ghana qualified for the Qatar 20222 FIFA World Cup tournament after eliminating the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the African play-offs after a two legged affair with the Black Stars playing a goalless drawn game with Nigeria at the Baba Yara sports stadium before travelling to Nigeria to play 1-1 drawn game in the return fixture.

The Black Stars is drawn in Group H with the likes of Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay. Ghana will take on Portugal on November 24.
