Despite beating his former club 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, Hearts of Oak head coach – Samuel Boadu has described their game against Medeama SC as very tough.
Two goals from Salifu Ibrahim and Benjamin Afutu gave the Phobians a sweet victory over Medeama after their 1-1 drawn game against Great Olympics last week.
But, coach Boadu revealed at his post match press conference that the win did not come on a silver platter.
“It was a very difficult game because Medeama SC is my former player and I brought most of the players up so they also know my style of play.
“They knew if they had allowed Hearts of Oak enough freedom on the ball they’ll be punished so they came into the game with a different mentality [not allowing Hearts to play at all], but my players were psychology ready to snap the three points come what may.”
His point was reiterated by Salifu Ibrahim who said Hearts of Oak were able to claim the victory mainly because they were determined to grab all the three points at stake.
“It was a tough game, but these are the kind of games you win if you want to win the league title. It is our determination that helped us in snatching this victory.”
