Hearts of Oak midfield prodigy – Salifu Ibrahim has revealed the secret behind the sudden rise in form of the Phobians in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
Hearts of Oak have won four consecutive games and for the first time in five years climbed to the top of the league table [46 points], one point above second placed Asante Kotoko SC who have a game in hand against WAFA this afternoon at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
Speaking about what has accounted for the abrupt boost in the performance of Hearts of Oak, the midfield architect disclosed that the playing body held a meeting about two weeks ago where they took a firm decision that they have to win the rest of their twelve games.
“We [players] had a meeting and agreed that if we win all the rest of our games, then we stand a good chance of winning the league. It was twelve matches left then,” he told Wontumi TV.
“We’ve been able to go four matches unbeaten now, so we are left with eight matches to accomplish that dream.
“One thing that is pushing us is that we approach our away games with the same seriousness we attach to our home matches because we cannot win the league if we win only at home.”
The former Eleven Wonders midfielder has settled quickly since his transfer to the capital based club at the start of the second round.
