Today, July 28, 2021 hits a great milestone as its exactly 365 days away from taking centre stage to deliver a celebration of sport, culture and community spirit like no other from the West Midlands to rest of the global space.

Birmingham 2022 will make global sport history by becoming the first ever major multi-sport event to award more medals to women than men. The Games will also feature more para sport than any previous Commonwealth Games.

Activities to mark this great occasion includes a free spectacular live sports festival in Centenary Square, Birmingham, providing just a glimpse of next summer’s sporting action.

The Games will be packed full of sport – so to celebrate this big day in the build up to next year’s event, we’re inviting people of all ages to come and try some of the sports that will feature.

There will also be the opportunity to meet star Team England athletes, and see them in action demonstrating their skills in some of the Birmingham 2022 sports.

There will also be a range of Birmingham 2022 merchandise available to purchase on the day, too, and there may even be the chance to meet our superstar mascot, Perry, who will be joining in the festivities.

Plus, Birmingham 2022’s official nature and carbon neutral supporter, Severn Trent Water, will be hosting a water bar, where visitors will be able to refill their reusable water bottles to stay hydrated for the sporting action, and reduce the number of single use bottles we throw away.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games is scheduled to be held in Birmingham from July 28 to August 08, 2022.
