Jamaican sprinter – Elaine Thompson-Herah has withdrawn from today’s 100m showdown at the Müller Grand Prix Gateshead.

The 2016 Olympic women 100m gold medallist was set to face two of the world’s fastest women – Sha’Carri Richardson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the women’s 100m event but according to multiple reports, the FastLane will no longer be in action.

No communication regarding the reason for her withdrawal has been provided so far, but Thompson-Herah is most likely to face off against Sha’Carri Richardson at next week’s Doha Diamond League meet.

Thomspon-Herah is the second-fastest woman this season having coasted 10.78 seconds in Florida last in April.

Great Britain’s fastest woman, Dinah Asher-Smith and another Natasha Morrison [Jamaica] could fancy their chances in Thomspon-Herah’s absence.

Morrison has clocked the third-fastest time over the distance this year, having run her personal best of 10.87, in Florida, last month.
