Management of Ghana Premier League side, Elmina Sharks Football Club have debunked reports that their head coach – Nii Odartey Lamptey has parted ways with the central region based club.
Reports was rife that the former Ghanaian international had relinquished his position after 54 days of work, but the management have issued a press release stating that the coach is still at post while urging supporters of the club to disregard the much publicized news.
“The management and technical team of Elmina Sharks FC have noted with grave concerns, news going round various radio stations and on social media that our Head Coach Nii Odartey Lamptey has resigned.
“We want to state unequivocally that Nii Odartey Lamptey is still at post as the Head Coach of the Fearsome Elmina Sharks,” a statement from the club on Wednesday said.
Odartey Lamptey, a cult figure during his playing days featured for all the male national teams of Ghana. He took over the reign as head coach of Elmina Sharks after Yaw Acheampong left the club.
He won his match 1-0 against Asante Kotoko at the Nduom Sports Complex in Elmina.
