In an attempt to regularize the dwindling image of Ghana football, the Federation of International Football Association [FIFA] has decided to establish a normalization committee to ameliorate the current football crisis that has engulfed the once powerful west African football nation – Ghana.

This came after a delegation of the Government of Ghana [GoG] paid a formal visit to the Football House in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday, August 16, 2018 to discuss the next step[s] for football Administration which came to an abrupt halt after the public premiering of Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ documentary on match-fixing and corruption which was code named Number 12 – “When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm.”

The GoG delegation to FIFA was led by the Minister of Youth and Sports – Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Samuel Abu Jinapor [Deputy Chief of Staff], Kojo Oppong Nkrumah [Minister of Information, designate], Mr. Godfred Yeboah Dame [Deputy Attorney General] and Dr. Kofi Amoah [Head, FIFA/CAF liaison team].

FIFA threatened to suspend the Ghana Football Association in letter dated August 13 following a decision by the Government of Ghana through it State Attorney to liquidate the GFA, a move which FIFA argues is in breach of articles 14 par 1 [i] and 19 par 1 of its statutes.

FIFA thus warned the government to withdraw its petition to liquidate the Ghana Football Association by Monday, August 27, or face a possible ban.

But the government wrote back to FIFA asking for further deliberation on the thorny issue and have now come to a common ground after the meeting on Thursday which aimed at putting measures in place to allow the game [football] to be played.

The GoG assured FIFA that it’ll take steps to discontinue the process seeking to dissolve the Ghana Football Association whiles FIFA in consultation with the GoG and CAF shall establish a normalization committee to replace the defunct Executive Committee of the GFA.

This committee [normalization] according to FIFA shall be made up of persons with persons with integrity and competence.
