Nine  athletes belonging to Jamaica’s delegation to the 2021 World Athletics World U-20 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya have tested positive for Covid-19, the Jamaica Athletic Administrative Association [JAAA] has announced.
According to the JAAA, four of the delegation tested positive earlier in the week while the other five tested positive in the final set of tests that were done before Jamaica’s departure.
All the affected persons are asymptomatic and are in isolation. They’ll not be able to depart Nairobi until September 2.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica team medical staff have remained with the nine persons and they will be accompanied home by senior staff including the medical personnel who have also remained with the group.
Jamaica won 11 medals – three gold, six silver and three bronze at the 2021 championships that ended last Sunday.
