Olympic and World Championships medalist – Blessing Okagbare-Otegheri has set a new 100m record in Slovakia having ran 10.98 seconds at the P-T-S Meeting in Šamorín on Wednesday, June 2.

The Delta State [Sapele] born who is gradually building an impressive form ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games towered to victory ahead of Ciara Neville [11.47 sec] and Naomi Sydney [11.48 sec], becoming the first ever woman to run under 11 seconds in any Meet held in the Eastern European country – Slovakia Republic.

“I’m excited and honoured,” the Nigerian said in a post sprint interview.

“Thank God for another healthy race/win today,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist in the 100m and 200m finished second [10.90 sec] behind Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Doha last Friday.

Okagbare [32], holds the Women’s 100 meters Commonwealth Games record for the fastest time at 10.85 seconds.
