The Acting CEO of MTN Ghana, Mr. Modupe Kadri has revealed that the most cherished and trusted telecommunications brand is undertaking an enhancement exercise on the training pitch of Asante Kotoko.
According to Mr. Modupe the upgrade of the training facility by MTN Ghana [Headline sponsor of Kotoko] is a token from his outfit to help boost the preparations of the Porcupine Warriors as they represent Ghana in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup tournament which starts in February 2018.
Speaking to www.sports24ghana.com on Monday, December 11, Mr. Modupe Kadri explained the vision behind their sponsorship of the MTN-FA Cup tournament.
“When we sponsored the FA Cup, our hope was to see an exciting game been played and we have largely achieved that. It is a bonus, however, that our own sponsored club [Asante Kotoko] has won this year’s tournament,” he stated.
MTN Ghana has kept faith with the FA Cup competition since it was revived in 2010.
Mr. Modupe congratulated the Porcupine Warriors and charged them to do more going forward.
“We would like to congratulate you [Kotoko] for doing such a great job and we look forward to more of such sterling performances.
“We know that Asante Kotoko is one of the biggest clubs which bring lots of excitement to the game in Ghana and beyond the shores of the country, especially having won over twenty national league titles.”
Asante Kotoko paid a courtesy call on their headline sponsor – MTN Ghana yesterday to present the two trophies they won in the just ended season. That is, the MTN-FA Cup and the President Cup.
What is more, Asante Kotoko won both trophies over their bitterest rivals – Hearts of Oak, beating them 3-1 in the MTN-FA Cup finals, and 4-1 on penalties in the finals of the President Cup.
