MTN Ghana, headline sponsor of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have been moved by the tragic incident that struck the Porcupine Warriors last Wednesday night after their week 22 game with Inter Allies at the El Wak Military Stadium in Accra.

Meanwhile, on their way back to the Garden City of Ghana [Kumasi] the team bus of Asante Kotoko ran into a mini cargo vehicle about two kilometers away from Nkawkaw, killing one in the process [the assistant equipment officer of the team] whiles the others on board sustained injuries of different magnitude.

Former Techiman City Football Club [TCFC] attacking midfield engineer, Baba John ‘The Football President’ Mahama and Coach Steve Pollack are still on admission at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital [KATH] whiles the other members of the team have been discharged.

“We are even more saddened by the passing of the Assistant Equipment Officer, Mr. Kofi Asare, as a result of the accident. We offer our heartfelt condolence to the family of Mr. Kofi Asare, and we pray that his soul finds rest in the life beyond,” a statement from the market leader in the increasingly competitive mobile telecommunications industry in Ghana reads.

The leading telecommunications industry in terms of voice clarity also pledged its support to Asante Kotoko in this trying moment.

A delegation from MTN Ghana met club officials and visited the accident victims at the Okomfo Anokye Accident and Emergency unit on Thursday.

The Porcupine Warriors are occupying the fourth position on the Ghana Premier League table with 35 points.
