WBC super featherweight champion – Miguel Angel Berchelt Cervera dominated, outclassed, out-punched, and above all floored his Ghanaian opponent [Maxwell Awuku] in round 3 to retain his title on Saturday, April 10, 2018 at the Oasis Arena in Cancum, Mexico.
Maxwell Awuku, a last minute replacement to Cristian Mijares and Carlo Magali [who dropped out in the end] tried putting up a show in the first round but was simply overmatched as the third round.
The lanky southpaw Ghanaian [Awuku] looked dazed and went on the canvass after a great left and right combination from the scorpion – Miguel Berchelt, but Awuku managed to get back onto his feet.
Maxwell Awuku went down for the second time in round 3 as Berchelt kept pressing him to the ropes whiles landing some heavy shots at the Ghanaian who looked match rusty.
Miguel Berchelt [33-1, 29 KO’s] described his win over Maxwell Awuku [44-4-1, 30 KO’s] as a dream come true.
“This is a very special night for me. I fulfilled a dream I had as a child.
“I knew I would knock him out. I did not feel a punch from him,” Berchelt added.
